Post-IOL Excursion

Trip to Plovdiv and Veliko Tarnovo

Dates: 29.07 – 31.07.2023

Route: Bansko – Plovdiv – Stara Zagora – Veliko Tarnovo – Sofia

PROGRAMME:

29.07.2023 Departure from Bansko at 08:00h. Arrival at Plovdiv and walk at Ancient Plovdiv – Architectural Reserve where on a relatively small area visitors can take walks through different historical ages, see ancient buildings adapted to the modern way of life and feel the spirit of the town from the Bulgarian Revival Period. Visit to the The Roman Theatre. Lunch at local restaurant. Visit to the great basilica in Plovdiv. It is the largest early Christian church in Bulgaria and an exceptional architectural monument of national importance. Departure from Plovdiv and 1 hour drive to Stara Zagora. Check-in at hotel and dinner.

30.07.2023 Breakfast. Departure from Stara Zagora at 09:00. Arriving and visit to Arbanassi, known for the rich history and large number of historical monuments, such as 17th- and 18th-century churches and examples of Bulgarian National Revival architecture. Ten minutes drive to Veliko Tarnovo – the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. Lunch at restaurant. Check-in at hotel in Veliko Tarnovo. Walk visit to Tsarevets Fortress. Located on the hill with the same name in Veliko Tarnovo, Tsaravets Fortress is one of the main tourist attractions. Free time. Dinner at the hotel.

31.07.2023 Breakfast. Departure for Sofia at 09:00.
